Tanu is a grocery price scanner. We collect the minimum data needed to run the app, and we never sell it. This page explains exactly what we store, why, and who it is shared with — in plain language.

What we collect

Data Why Visibility
Account email Create and authenticate your account (handled by Supabase). Private
Barcode scans Look up product details from Open Food Facts. Private
Prices & products you add Power the community price comparison everyone benefits from. Shared
Advertising identifier Serve ads in the free version (Google AdMob). Premium users: none. Private

How we use it

  • Keep you signed in and secure.
  • Look up products by barcode.
  • Store and display community-shared prices.
  • Serve advertising in the free version only.

We do not use your data for profiling, and we do not sell it to anyone.

Third-party services

Tanu relies on a small number of trusted providers. Each has its own privacy policy:

Open Food Facts Product data. Policy ↗
Google AdMob Ads (free tier). Policy ↗

Community sharing

Tanu is built around community pricing. The products, stores, and prices you submit are visible to every other signed-in user, so everyone can compare. Your email address is never shown to other users, and entries are only linked to your account internally.

Retention & deletion

You can edit or delete any product or price you created directly in the app. To delete your account and all personal data linked to it, send a request from the in-app Feedback screen and we will remove it.

Children

Tanu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top.
